Water Treatment and Distribution Operator

The City of Eldridge is accepting applications for a full-time Water Treatment and Distribution Operator.

Job duties include but are not limited to operations of the water treatment plant, lab testing, system maintenance, meter changeouts, water main repairs, emergency response, public interaction and GIS mapping. Applicants will work under the direct supervision of the water Superintendent/Operator in Charge. The preferred candidate should have the drive to obtain water treatment and distribution certifications while seeking continuing education units. Candidates will be required to respond at all times to emergency calls such as water main breaks, treatment material leaks, and system alarms. A grade 2 treatment and grade 2 distribution certificate must be obtained within 4 years of the date of hire or earlier if some certification has already been acquired. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL license within one year from the date of hire. Must be able to work rotating weekends and holidays. The anticipated starting pay is $28.41-$35.51, depending on qualifications with an excellent benefits package.

​Electric Line Journeyman (Full-Time)

The City of Eldridge is accepting applications for a full-time Electric Journeyman.  Under the direction of the Utility Manager/Line Superintendent, they will construct and maintain overhead and underground transmission and distribution power lines. Installs and maintains related equipment used to conduct electrical energy from generating stations through substations to customers.

The preferred candidate should be a certified Journeyman in the electric distribution field working as a lineman. A high school diploma or GED, the ability to lift 75 lbs., the ability to work off the ladder, and the ability to climb poles and towers are required.  Must also have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL license within six months from the date of hire. Crossing Guard (Back-Up)

The Eldridge Police Department is accepting applications for an on-call back-up Crossing Guard for when the regular crossing guard is unable to work. Under the direction of the School Resource Officer, the crossing guard will assist pedestrians across the street during the school year. Teach children safety habits and practice safety habits, while constantly evaluating traffic situations. While performing the duties of this job you will be exposed to temperature extremes from below zero in winter to 90 degrees or more in late spring or early fall.  Employees are frequently exposed to noise from vehicular traffic, inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet, humidity, fumes from vehicles or heavy equipment.
